Language barriers make it hard to get the most out of online videos. Training sessions, product demos, and webinars aren’t very helpful if they’re in a language you don’t understand.
But that may be changing.
Microsoft is testing a new AI audio translation feature inside the Edge browser. This tool can translate the spoken words in a video into another language in real time. It even replaces the original audio with the translated version.
Right now, the feature only supports a few languages - English, Spanish, and Korean. But it already shows how AI can make global content easier for everyone to use.
How AI Audio Translation Works
Once you turn on the feature in Edge’s settings, a small toolbar appears when you watch videos on supported websites like YouTube.
If you play a video that’s in a different language, Edge automatically creates a translated audio track and mutes the original. You can hear the video in your chosen language almost right away.
There are a few limits at the moment:
You need a powerful computer with at least 12 GB of memory and a modern processor.
Accuracy isn’t perfect yet. You may hear strange phrasing or small mistakes.
Still, this is only a preview, and the results are already impressive.
The potential benefits are huge. You could watch international training videos, partner presentations, or industry updates without waiting for subtitles or hiring a translator.
This tool could make learning faster, help teams work better with global partners, and give businesses easier access to knowledge from around the world.
