How We Got Here

Tom Wyant got his start in IT at Rogers Department Store in Grand Rapids. He eventually made his way to Traverse City, continued working in IT services, and built a strong base of clients who trusted him.

When an opportunity came to join a large Cisco reseller in Grand Rapids, he took it. What he didn't expect was what happened next: the clients he'd built relationships with in Traverse City followed him there.

That told him something. The loyalty wasn't to the company — it was to the relationship. So Tom left Grand Rapids, came back home, and in 2003 founded what is now Wyant Technologies.

More than 20 years later, the business looks different — more services, more technicians, more clients across Michigan — but the foundation hasn't changed. We're still a local company built on relationships, and the clients who found us early are mostly still here.

We work best with businesses between 5 and 100 employees. Not because we can't handle larger environments — but because we've made a deliberate choice to stay focused on the clients we serve best. Small and mid-sized businesses deserve the same quality of IT support that large enterprises get. That's what we provide.

We Have No Interest in Becoming the Next Billion-Dollar MSP

The IT industry is full of companies chasing growth at any cost — raising prices, cutting staff, reducing service quality, and ultimately letting down the clients who trusted them. We've watched it happen too many times.

We're not building Wyant to flip it. We're building it to last. That means staying at a size where we can actually know our clients, respond when they need us, and stand behind the work we do.

We Will Never Sell to Private Equity

This one is non-negotiable. Almost every IT company that has sold to a private equity firm or rolled up into a larger platform has seen the same outcome: prices go up, local employees get cut, and service deteriorates. The clients are the ones who pay for it.

No amount of money would make us comfortable putting our clients in that position. We founded this company to help people, and that's not something we're willing to trade away.

Our Team

We're a team of 8 — technicians, account managers, and support staff who take their work seriously and communicate like adults. We hire people who want to learn, fit our culture, and have the communication skills to work with real businesses — not just fix computers.

We invest in ongoing training so our team stays current with the technology our clients are actually using. When you call us, you talk to someone who knows you, knows your environment, and knows what they're doing.

What We Do

We provide managed IT services, cybersecurity, co-managed IT, VoIP phone systems, and AI assessments to businesses across Michigan. Most support is delivered remotely by technicians located throughout the state, with on-site visits available when needed.
